This is how it works: Buy clothes in the right baby sizes

Whether it's baby clothes to give away or for your own offspring, it's often not so easy to choose the right size. Our baby size chart gives you a good overview. Find out here what else needs to be considered when it comes to finding the right size for your baby.

Baby sizes - age and body length are decisive

    • Most baby sizes are based on body length measured in centimeters. For example, you will find the size indication 62 cm on the label. This means that the garment usually fits babies with a body length between 57 and 62 cm.
    • However, it may also be that the label is provided with an age indication such as ""0 to 3 months"". Then you can assume that the garment will fit most babies at this age. Baby sizes by age can generally provide a good measure. However, it should be noted that babies grow at different rates

A good guide: baby size chart

If you want to buy baby clothes, a size chart provides the best guide. In most cases, there are three columns. The first indicates the age of the baby, with clothing sizes usually referring to the months of life. The second lists the average regular body length that babies at this age have. The last column will then show you the appropriate clothing size. The baby size chart often distinguishes between boys and girls, as the average height by age also depends on gender.

    Tip

Because of the nappy, you can buy baby pants or rompers one size larger. This will allow your baby to move around easily in it.

For newborns, it is better to get two sizes

Although your midwife can give an estimate to the size of your newborn, it remains a surprise how big and heavy your baby will be. For this reason, it is advisable to choose two baby sizes - newborn and 0-1 month.
