Schools Programme

The #SeriousSupport Schools Programme is back!

We are delighted that the LGFA-backed secondary schools athlete mentor programme has returned for the 2022-23 school year.

Delivered in conjunction with children’s charity the Youth Sport Trust and our team of specially trained inter-county footballers, we are committed to teaching students about the long-term physical and mental health benefits of playing ladies’ Gaelic football and aim to increase participation and reduce drop-out rates for teenage girls. Our athlete mentors will deliver the programme through classroom workshops and on-pitch training sessions in schools in every county.

All schools that receive 50 stamp cards or more in the LGFA Rewards Scheme will automatically be nominated for the 2023-24 programme. Chosen schools in each county will be offered a place on the programme after the LGFA Rewards Scheme ends.
