Regional Distribution Centre Update
Welcome to the latest update of Lidl’s largest ever property project in Ireland. We have made great progress since our last update in late August despite some rainy days on-site! For the last three months, our construction partners on both the NSORR road and Warehouse projects have been working hard to ensure important milestones are achieved.
Murphy International Ltd have made great progress with the installation of 3 new culverts which will enable the new road to bridge over the local Pinkeen stream. Deep drainage works under the proposed new road are also progressing very well which is part of the wider Upper Liffey Valley Sewage Scheme.
Murphy International Ltd plan to implement phase 1 of the Traffic Management Plan on the R445 in late November which you will see bollards along the edge of the hard shoulder to facilitate commencing works on the Newbridge bound hard shoulder.
In early January, Phase 2 of the Traffic Management Plan will be implemented by Murphy International which will involve diverting the Newbridge bound traffic onto the Naas bound carriageway creating a contraflow. This will allow the necessary works to complete the proposed new roundabout quickly on the R445.
For safety reasons, a 50KPH speed restriction has been implemented by Murphy International Ltd to ensure the safety of everyone during construction.
On the Warehouse site, John Paul Construction Ltd have made great progress on the groundworks with excess of 150,000 cubic meters of earth been excavated with 50,000 cubic meters replaced and treated with lime and cement. The excavation of foundations for the steel columns will commence very shortly and plan to start erecting steel in early December which will be a huge project milestone.
We would like to sincerely thank all the local community and residents for their positive engagement throughout the process to date. Both Lidl and our contracted partners remain committed to keeping the community updated throughout all parts of this process.
