Status Update: Newbridge Warehouse
We are pleased to bring you the latest details from the site in Newbridge. Ground improvement works for the building are progressing at pace with in excess of 350,000 cubic meters of earth been excavated and treated for re-use since works commenced in October last. These works are nearing the three quarter way mark along the building and on a good day, the team on site are handling and treating in excess of 3,000 cubic metres of soil!
The main warehouse steel frame commenced in early December, with approx. 2,000 tonnes of structural steel erected since then as the frame approaches the half way point. Roofing, wall cladding, retaining walls and first fix services are all following the steel frame with concrete sub-floor/ yard pours progressing both internally and externally now.
Numbers on site have now topped 200 with new contractors coming on board weekly as work opens up for follow-on trades including electrical fitout, sprinkler, mechanical and refrigeration services.
Over the next 4 weeks, the external cladding will progress on all external elevations of the main frame, with internal coldrooms commencing as the steel frame chases the ground stabilisation works to the end of the building. The steel frame for the administration block of the building will commence on the south side of the main structure and we will start to take in the first deliveries of major plant and equipment for the plantrooms.
Road construction is progressing very well despite working through a particularly wet November and December. The deep foul sewer drainage is now 100% complete which was a key element of works completed ahead of schedule. The new link road from the R445 to our existing Distribution centre at Great Connell has been capped with stone enabling shallow storm drainage works to commence.
Thank you again to everyone for their ongoing support and patience.
