Kick Start Supplier Development

In 2017, we developed Kick Start, a supplier development programme in conjunction with Bord Bia to give Irish food & drink suppliers the chance to showcase their products and grow their business through Lidl stores across the country. Last year we had €1m worth of Irish produce, with over 80 products from over 60 suppliers on our shelves and this year we have invested even more to bring you an even bigger range of tasty local products!

Broghies Popped Grains

Garavogue Broghies, Kildare Town, Co. Kildare

From humble beginnings in Ontario, Canada, Irish immigrant (Sligo) Ken Tracey and friend Terry Brush created Broghies in 2008. The pair wanted to create a type of snack their own children would enjoy but also wanted to make sure it offered the best possible taste and nutritional values.

Having stayed close to their roots, they named the product after their daughters; Broghen and Brogyn, and even put them on the front of the bag. In 2011 when they brought Broghies to Ireland and the UK, they felt it was important to have both Irish and English on the packaging.

Broghies are low carb, low calories, vegan and low sodium. They are the perfect bread alternative and are excellent for dips and spreads. So whether you are 8 months or 80 you can enjoy a Broghie popped grain.
